This community was annexed to the city of Calgary in 1907; real estate development started in the community in 1910 after its establishment in the same year. Some of the landmarks associated with this community are the River Park and the Stanley Park.
The community shares borders with Elbow River on the south and east; on the east is the Elbow Drive also. The Council Way runs along its northern borders, while the 14 Street W defines its limits to the west.
